Literacy Leadership Cohort

PBDE in Literacy Leadership

Teacher leaders are key people in strengthening literacy practices in schools. Teacher leaders have an important leadership and advocacy role in the school divisions in which they work. Literacy leadership requires an understanding of supporting the professional growth of colleagues including being able to facilitate the professional learning of others. To develop expertise, the Post-Baccalaureate in Literacy Leadership provides a foundation in literacy theories, the current context, innovations in instruction, and include practical experiences for providing comprehensive literacy instruction and intervention to children in the first years of school.

The Post Baccalaureate in Literacy Leadership is a 30-credit hour program developed for experienced educators, including classroom teachers, literacy support teachers, literacy coaches, division consultants, and school leaders.

Pre-requisite: B. Ed. degree with a minimum of two years of literacy teaching/work experience in an early or middle years context.

This PBDE is self-contained, meaning that it contains all needed courses and credit hours for a PBDE. The concentration was designed to be completed in two years.
