Self-Reporting Grades

Self-reporting grades is part of the admission application process, where Manitoban high school students can submit their expected or final Grade 12 marks in order to be evaluated for admission to The University of Â鶹´«Ã½.

When?

When you apply for Admission, you will be asked to submit expected or final Grade 12 marks on the application. Apply before June 1 - if you are applying after June 1 you will be asked to self-report your grades, but you will not be sent an offer of admission until you submit a high school transcript to the University.

Why?

High school courses and grades play an important part in how the University evaluates an application, so it is important that we receive this information as soon as it is available. Self-reporting grades at the point of application also means that offers of admission will be sent out earlier and you can start planning for post-secondary. Self-reporting grades will permit the University to automatically consider you for admission and scholarships.

How?

When you apply for Admission online a drop-down list of all of the Grade 12 high school courses in Manitoba will appear. Select the Grade 12 courses you have taken or are currently taking, and enter your marks.  TIP:  For music-related courses, we do not need to know the specific type of course or instrument (e.g. band, chorale, guitar), so just choose from any of the Music options, listed A,B,C,etc.

The marks submitted will be either completed (final), or anticipate completing in the current year (expected). If you are not admissible on self-reported grades, you will be re-evaluated when the University receives official final Grade 12 information from the high schools in June/July.

What?

The grades you report will either be final grades that have been confirmed on your report card, or expected grades that you believe you will attain at the end of the year. You can estimate expected grades on a number of things such as how well you did in similar courses in Grade 11, if you have received interim Grade 12 marks, or how well you are doing in the course so far, based on tests or papers you have done.

Verifying Reported Grades

The University will automatically request official final Grade 12 transcripts from the high schools for all students that apply by June 1. All courses and grades submitted will be verified based on these transcripts. In the event of a discrepancy between the grades you report and the grades received from the high school, the latter will be used as the final official mark.

Important Notes

If you receive an offer of admission, you do not need to submit grade revisions or additions after submitting self-reported grades. The University will be doing the final evaluation on the final official transcripts, so we will eventually see all of your correct classes and marks.

Admission decisions based on self-reported grades are subject to change without notice on the basis of official grades. In cases of significant discrepancies, you may be required to provide an explanation.

Apply before June 1 - if you are applying after June 1 you will be asked to self-report your grades, but you will not be sent an offer of admission until you submit a high school transcript to the University.

Before You Apply

  • Make sure that you meet admission requirements
